What is Workplace Sexual Harassment?

If the topic of workplace sexual harassment is new to you, this is a great place to start. This session will introduce you to sexual harassment in the workplace: how to identify it, how common it is, and what factors let it happen.

Rights and Responsibilities

120 minutes

In this session, employers in small businesses and non-profits will get a basic understanding of their legal obligations to create a respectful workplace, including under workers’ compensation and human rights’ laws. Workers will learn about their rights to a safe workplace free of sexual harassment and discrimination, and how they can help to maintain a respectful workplace.

Foundational Course

90 minutes  

For those who understand the basics of what workplace sexual harassment is, get greater insight into the impact of historical colonial violence that continues to influence the Canadian workplace. Guided by Bonnie van Hatten, Indigenous Education Lead, Secwepemc, you will learn about the roots of harassment and what it means to decolonize and reconcile from an Indigenous perspective.

This session is for employers in small businesses and non-profits. You’ll get information about how to set up policies and procedures around workplace sexual harassment, along with a free detailed policy and procedures template that you can use to develop and implement your own workplace sexual harassment policy.

Workplace Investigations

120 minutes

In this two-hour session for employers, you’ll use the: A trauma-informed approach to addressing workplace sexual harassment manual that you can use to learn how to carry out workplace investigations into sexual harassment complaints. This manual is free for you to keep.

Legal options and remedies: for employers

This session gives employers the information and resources you need to understand the legal options available to anyone who experiences sexual harassment in their workplace and your obligations as an employer when a worker pursues a legal option.
